Balanced Life Yoga
New Mural at Blanced Life Yoga
Planning
Here is a sketch of the loose idea of what Balanced Life Yoga’s mural will resemble. The idea is depict a series of hands flowing together in different gestures. We want the gestures to be representative of an individual’s positive influence that they can have around them.
Practice Painting
These hands are rendered in Red, Blue, and Yellow but the final ones we want to paint in a more subdued palette of Sepia tones.

Frankie’s
Hey there,
We have been in contact with the owners of Frankie’s and they are interested in having a mural put on the back of their building. They are open to content and style, but they would prefer to have a mural that would not stray to far from their theme: the Mediterranean and food. Therefore any designs would have to be pre-approved before painting starts. Here are a few photo’s of the space. Initially I imagined doing something in pastel colour to go along with their preexisting colour scheme. This mural does not necessarily have to cover the entire space. And I would like to find out if some of us would be allowed to paint on the higher floors. I would love to hear what you think, better yet if you have any design ideas yourself.
Peace,
master thumper

Martino’s COMPLETED!
Before/After
Process Documentation
As is important with any art project it is important to document the process of the work, here are some photos of us putting up the mural.
Some Concluding Remarks
Hey there,
I would just like to thank all the youth that came out to participate in the first mural! Amazingly we were able to get this up in a solid 5 hours. We would not have been able to do so with all the help from everyone. Thanks to the Youth Center for providing the extra paint and to Dominic (from Martino’s) for helping out with ladders, recycling, and the enthusiasm to let us paint what we wanted. Many more murals to come!!
Peace,
master thumper

Supplies and preparation needed
Supplies Needed
For the Mural at Martino’s Shop, we will need the following supplies for the group:
- 3 Clean Paint-Rolling Sleeves and Handles
- Several Small, Medium and large all-purpose paint brushes (already accounted for)
- 1 Gallon in any shade of Warm, Dark Brown Outdoor Latex Primer Paint (Accounted for?)
- 1 Gallon of Natural Trillium-Leaf Green Outdoor Latex Paint in any finish (Matte/Glossy)
- 8 Cans of Montana Gold Acrylic Aerosol Paint in White, Black and Various Tones & Shades of Green, Grey, Yellow and Dark Brown (In same finish as Trillium-Leaf Green)
- Some X-acto knives and cutting boards to cut printed stencils
Preparation needed
The preparation that we need to do before painting will be:
- Create stencil of trillium (flower silhouette, stem silhouette, shading/texture) and stencil of trees (tree silhouette, shading/texture) — this will be taken care of be Nate and Jesse
- Cut stencil images – once we print the images of the stencils we will pass them off to the UYC for the “ThUMPers” to cut out. (IF guidance is needed Nate can give a demo later this week)
.. and when that is all done we actually need to ..
Paint the Mural
- Paint the wall gradient we talked about in a group. For those not there at the meeting it was going to be a lighter green in the foreground (bottom of the wall) that transitions to a darker green (top of the concrete wall)
- After that the rest will be a series of stenciling and painting with brush to make the form of the piece all the way to the finished texture and style that we all like
Jesse and Nate will be present to coordinate each step of the painting process and of course help paint the wall as well.
